Our client, a growing and well-established audit and accounting practice based in Bellville, Cape Town, is seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented External Audit Senior to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for an individual who has completed their SAICA Articles and has gained solid external audit experience within an audit practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing audit engagements, performing detailed audit procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant auditing and accounting standards, and supporting junior team members throughout the audit process.
Key Performance Areas:
Planning and executing external audit engagements from commencement through to completion
Performing audit procedures in accordance with the approved audit methodology
Preparing and reviewing audit working papers and supporting documentation
Performing substantive and analytical audit procedures
Identifying and assessing audit risks and determining appropriate audit procedures
Ensuring audit engagements comply with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and relevant legislation
Assisting with the preparation and review of annual financial statements
Reviewing financial information and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
Identifying accounting and audit issues and escalating complex matters where necessary
Communicating audit findings and queries to clients in a professional manner
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
Assisting with the supervision and guidance of junior audit staff and trainees
Reviewing work performed by junior team members and providing constructive feedback
Monitoring audit progress and ensuring deadlines are met
Maintaining accurate and well-organised audit files
Assisting with resolving technical accounting and audit matters
Staying up to date with relevant changes to auditing, accounting, and regulatory requirements
Contributing to the overall quality and efficiency of the audit team
