Junior Accountant – Cape Town

Our client is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for someone with a solid accounting foundation, eager to grow their skills in a professional, fast-paced environment while supporting the month-end, reporting, and compliance processes.

Key Performance Areas:

• Assist with preparation of financial statements and management accounts
• Perform reconciliations of accounts and support month-end processes
• Process supplier and customer invoices, and maintain accounts payable/receivable ledgers
• Support payroll administration and maintain accurate employee records
• Ensure correct VAT treatment and assist with VAT submissions to SARS
• Maintain organised, audit-ready digital and physical filing systems
• Provide timely, accurate information to senior accountants for reporting and compliance
• Support budgeting, accruals, and prepayment adjustments as required
• Assist with ad-hoc finance and accounting projects
• Communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, and suppliers

Requirements:

• 1–3 years accounting experience in a similar environment
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
• Intermediate Excel / Google Sheets skills (lookups, formulas, pivots)
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month-end processes
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Proactive problem-solving ability and ability to work independently
• Clear and professional communication skills
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism
