Shift Pursuit has a brand new vacancy available at a private hospital based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, offering an exciting opportunity for an ICU Trained Registered Nurse. This role is suited to a dedicated professional who will provide high-quality care to critically ill patients.
Requirements:
Post Basic Qualification in ICU Nursing (M&S: Critical Care Nursing) (essential)
Degree/Diploma in General Nursing
SANC Registered
Ventilator Competent
Minimum 3 – 5 Years Experience within the ICU unit
Private hospital experience (highly advantageous)
Key Performance Areas:
Deliver comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU
Continuously monitor, assess, and interpret patient vital signs and clinical status
Operate and manage advanced life support equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitoring systems
Administer prescribed medications, fluids, and treatments accurately and safely
Recognise and respond rapidly to patient deterioration and medical emergencies
Collaborate with intensivists, doctors, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans
Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards in a critical care environment
Provide holistic patient care, including physical, emotional, and psychological support
Support and educate patients’ families regarding conditions, treatments, and progress
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities
Participate in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges within the ICU
Assist with invasive procedures and advanced clinical interventions
Ensure proper functioning of ICU equipment and escalate any issues promptly
Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and best clinical practices
Participate in continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives
