A well-established Accounting Firm in Somerset West is seeking a newly qualified SAIPA Accountant to join its team. This opportunity is suited to a recently qualified Professional Accountant who is ready to apply their practical training and take on greater responsibility within a professional accounting environment. The successful candidate will work with a variety of client portfolios and gain continued exposure to accounting, financial reporting and tax-related functions.
Key Performance Areas:
Manage day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of clients
Prepare and review monthly management accounts
Prepare annual financial statements
Perform accounting reconciliations and review financial records
Process and review journals and other accounting transactions
Assist with VAT, PAYE and other SARS compliance requirements
Prepare income tax and provisional tax calculations
Assist with client queries relating to accounting and tax matters
Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and supporting documentation
Review bookkeeping work and supporting schedules where required
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
Ensure all work complies with applicable accounting and statutory requirements
Manage multiple client portfolios and meet relevant deadlines
Provide support and guidance to junior team members where required
Requirements:
Relevant BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification
Newly qualified SAIPA / Professional Accountant
Practical experience gained within an accounting or professional services firm
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Exposure to annual financial statements and management accounts
Working knowledge of VAT, income tax and SARS compliance
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and deadlines
Proficiency in relevant accounting software will be advantageous
Ability to work independently and as part of a professional team
