Our client is seeking an experienced and reliable Senior Bookkeeper to join their finance function. This role is best suited to a hands-on bookkeeping professional with strong practical experience, particularly within a high-volume or hospitality environment. The focus is on proven experience rather than formal qualifications, with an emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and operational support.
Key Performance Areas:
Full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
Daily processing of supplier invoices, customer invoices, and cashbooks
Bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations
Preparation of management accounts for review
Monitoring and managing accounts payable and receivable
VAT calculations and submissions to SARS
Payroll support and related reconciliations
Handling multiple entities or cost centres where applicable
Maintaining accurate, audit-ready financial records and filing systems
Liaising with management, auditors, and external accountants
Supporting budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and financial controls
Ensuring compliance with internal procedures and statutory requirements
Requirements:
Proven senior bookkeeping experience
Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and reconciliations
Experience working in a high-volume environment (hospitality/retail advantageous)
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Pastel or similar)
Solid Excel skills for reconciliations and reporting
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and reliability
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Professional communication and discretion
Must reside in the Northern Suburbs
