Our client, a leading specialist engineering consultancy, is seeking an exceptional Senior Civil Engineer to join their Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity to act as a technical design lead, delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across Southern Africa and beyond while mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Key Performance Areas:
Serve as technical design lead: oversee project delivery, undertake design work, and mentor junior and mid-level staff.
Lead and contribute to the detailed design of water/sewer reticulation, stormwater infrastructure, earthworks, and roads.
Ensure full compliance with South African regulations, local authority requirements, and client specifications.
Review, interrogate, and optimize designs for buildability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
Assist with resource allocation, balancing team utilization with staff professional development.
Engage with stakeholders and manage client liaisons effectively.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
Professional registration with ECSA as PrEng or PrTechEng.
Proven track record in leading technical teams or managing projects within consulting engineering environments.
Advanced design experience in water and sewer reticulation, stormwater management, earthworks, and roads.
In-depth knowledge of South African engineering standards, SANS codes, and municipal regulatory requirements.
Experience operating within matrix structures and pooled resource environments.
Key Skills:
Proficiency in Civil 3D, Wadiso, iDAS, or equivalent modeling tools.
Strong technical leadership and design optimization capabilities.
Excellent project management, budgeting, and resource allocation skills.
Strong technical report writing and documentation abilities.
Proven coaching and mentorship capability.
Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and high attention to detail.
