Requirements:
Post Basic Qualification in Nursing Management (highly advantageous)
Post Basic Qualification in Midwifery & Neonatal Nursing Science (essential)
Degree/Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery
Minimum 3-5 Years Shift Leading or Management experience (essential)
SANC Registered
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Governance
Ensure safe, high-quality care for mothers, newborns, and NICU patients
Oversee labour, postnatal, antenatal, and neonatal care
Implement and monitor clinical protocols, including neonatal resuscitation and obstetric emergencies
Maintain infection control, patient safety, and emergency preparedness
Staff Leadership & Management
Lead, mentor, and allocate nursing staff across Maternity and NICU
Ensure appropriate skill mix for high-acuity neonatal and maternity care
Manage performance, rostering, absenteeism, and professional development
Unit Operations & Resource Management
Oversee admissions, discharges, and patient flow in both wards
Ensure availability and functionality of NICU and maternity equipment (incubators, monitors, resus trolleys)
Coordinate care with obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists, and theatre teams
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Monitor maternal and neonatal outcomes; implement quality improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SANC regulations, and safety standards
Prepare reports and participate in audits and inspections
Education & Training
Support orientation and ongoing training for maternity and NICU staff
Promote competency in neonatal resuscitation, obstetric emergencies, and advanced maternity care
