Shift Pursuit is seeking a dedicated Theatre Unit Manager for our client who I part of one of the large private hospital groups based in Roodepoort, Gauteng. Requirements:
* Postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management (essential)
* Post basic qualification in Theatre (essential)
* Degree or Diploma in Nursing
* SANC Registered
* Relevant experience as a Unit Manager or Shift Leader
Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical Education & Training
Deliver theoretical and practical training to student nurses in operating theatre practices.
Facilitate integration of theory and clinical practice in line with SANC requirements.
Ensure students and staff understand and apply infection control, patient safety, and surgical protocols.
Student Assessment & Competency Evaluation
Conduct formative and summative assessments of student nurses.
Evaluate student competencies in theatre procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient care.
Provide structured feedback and guidance for professional growth.
Curriculum & Program Implementation
Implement and maintain theatre-specific training programs.
Ensure course content aligns with SANC standards and institutional objectives.
Collaborate with faculty to review and update curriculum based on best practices.
Clinical Supervision & Mentorship
Supervise student nurses during theatre rotations, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
Mentor junior clinical instructors and new staff in theatre-specific competencies.
Support continuous professional development of staff through structured training sessions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure all clinical training and assessment practices comply with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional standards.
Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and monitoring of student and staff performance.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of student performance, competency assessments, and attendance.
Prepare reports on student outcomes, training effectiveness, and compliance for management and regulatory bodies.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with hospital theatre teams, management, and external stakeholders to coordinate clinical placements.
Support communication between academic staff and clinical teams for smooth student learning experiences.
Professional Development & Research
Keep up-to-date with developments in theatre nursing, surgical protocols, and educational best practices.
Participate in professional development, workshops, and seminars to enhance clinical teaching quality.
